Fish Misty Fjords National Monument and experience the wonder of Alaska
Freshwater fishing in Misty Fjords

Fly Out Fly Fishing
Explore Alaska Charters offers guided fly fishing trips in Misty Fjords National Monument for both spin & fly fisherman. Our trip will begin with a majestic flight onboard a DeHavilland Beaver to one of the many pristine lakes in Misty Fjords. Lake selection will be based on quality of fishing, scenery, and weather conditions. Every effort will be made to select lakes and streams that are not occupied at the time. In fact most of the lakes in Misty Fjords only get a handful of visitors per year. This is what makes the fishing so incredible, and the experience second to none.

Northwest Fly Fishing article about our freshwater fishing adventures in Misty FjordsGuided freshwater fishing trips include a licensed, and insured guide, safety equipment, rain jacket, and fishing equipment. Fishing equipment includes a fly rod (or spin casting rod), flies (or spinners), and Gore-Tex waders.

Northwest Fly Fishing (Mar/Apr. 2008) article about our freshwater fly fishing in Misty Fjords.,

Zone 1 - Fly Out Fly Fishing:
Includes lakes and streams in the heart of Misty Fjords National Monument. These lakes are further away from Ketchikan. As a result, they are more costly to access. As a general rule these lakes get much less traffic, and often have stronger fishing.

Zone 2 - Fly Out Fly Fishing: Includes lakes and streams just inside the Misty Fjords Nation Monument. These lakes are slightly closer to the Ketchikan area, thus are a little less expensive to access. These lakes also provide incredible fishing, and stunning scenery.

Boat and Hike Guided Fly Fishing
As a more cost effective alternative, Explore Alaska Charters also offers boat and hike guided fly fishing trips. There are a few streams in the Ketchikan area that can be accessed by boat that have strong runs of salmon, and trout.

Interested clients who chose boat and hike access can also set Dungeness Crab traps at the mouth of the salmon stream. At the end of a great day of freshwater sport fishing, guests can pull their crab pots to retrieve their catch. A crab cooker is available for all guests staying in our rentals.

Due to uneven terrain, limited hiking, etc. it is recommend that clients be in good physical condition. Some streams require a 2+ mile hike.

Freshwater Trips Include: Guided freshwater fishing trips include a licensed guide, box lunch, snack, bottled water, raincoat, and fishing equipment (if needed). Fishing equipment includes a fly rod (or spin casting rod), flies (or spinners), and Gore-Tex waders.
